Linear Morphea

Hey there! If you're reading this blog it might help you to know about the skin disease that I talk about or mention pretty often. I have a condition known as linear morphea. It falls under the umbrella term scleroderma. Morphea is a fibrotic disorder in which skin overproduces collagen and scar tissue which makes skin tight and darker colored. Commonly morphea "spots" appear to be burn marks. This is an autoimmune diesease, so essentially the body is attacking its own immune system which causes the imbalance. In some cases, joints are affected, such is the case with my condition. Because of the contraction of my skin, I can only move two of the fingers on my left hand, and I have limited motion in my left wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Common issues such as heart problems, decreased lung function, arthritis, and loss of mobility are associated with both morphea and scleroderma. Along with the visible affects of my condition, I also have arthritis, scoliosis, arrthymia, and pre osteoporosis. This combination often causes pain, but I've never truly not been able to do something physicially that I wanted to do. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an e-mail and I'll answer them if I can.
